Asian Services In Action (ASIA) is now accepting applications for the 2012 Dr. James K.C. Juan Community Fellows Program. This fellowship provides a three- to four- month summer stipend to one college-bound or presently college-enrolled Asian American student to work with Asian Services In Action, a comprehensive health and social services organization in Cleveland, Ohio.
The purpose of this fellowship is to foster and support the next generation of Asian American leaders who are committed to the betterment of the community. The fellow will experience the importance of community service by working on various programs and projects in coordination with ASIA’s staff, board, and volunteers.
The Program will evaluate candidates based on their demonstrated scholastic achievement, concern for the community, and representation of Dr. Juan’s legacy and his contributions to education. The stipend for the fellowship is $1,000/month and requires the fellow to participate full-time. (The monthly stipend will be reduced commensurately for any planned time off or absences.) The preferred time frame for this fellowship is June 15 through August 15.
The Dr. James K.C. Juan Community Fellowship Program was established for Dr. Juan’s 90th birthday by friends and family to honor his lifelong dedication to education.
